There's a place for you here!

Welcome

When we meet

When we meet

Aloha! If you have found this site, then chances are you’re a visitor, guest, or seeker in our community, and we believe that it is not by accident that you are here. Above all else we want to express Christ’s love to you with genuine, heartfelt warmth. Our doors are open, our hearts are open to you. You belong here at Kapa'a UCC! It doesn’t matter where you come from, what you’ve been through, or what baggage you may be carrying, we welcome all, with God's Aloha.  If you come to us as a visitor, we hope that you’ll leave as a friend who’s been blessed by worshiping with us. Come visit us. Everyone at Kapa’a UCC looks forward to meeting you!

When we gather for worship, we connect with believers

Communion is celebrated on the first and third Sundays

of each month.  All are welcome to this life-giving meal.

Come as you are!

Some folks worship in a dress or Aloha shirt, while others are in T- shirts, shorts, and slippahs. Your personal style is appropriate and welcomed!

Our worship is mostly in English with a little Hawaiian

We love to welcome visitors to our Island!

We believe worship is for all! We celebrate everyone, from our keiki to our kupuna.

Our typical worship celebration will last about 45 minutes.

Our worship style is casual and relaxed with a Keiki time and a relevant, uplifting message to take out into the world.

We love to sing and we have a good mix of contemporary and traditional music to meet everyone's tastes.

Plan to hang around after the service for fellowship and to meet new friends.

FAQs

What to expect

What to expect

Do I have to be part of the UCC?

  • As you become better acquainted with our members, you will discover that many people who attend Kapa’a UCC come from other denominations and various backgrounds.

Do I have to have a certain belief?

  • It’s okay not to believe everything because we are committed to offering open space for doubts, exploration, and growth.

What kind of Christians are you?

  • We are a group of believers focused on giving life to the community instead of bringing judgment or something destructive. So, if you are exhausted or disheartened by Christianity that equates faith with hate or harm—you’ve made a wise decision to learn more about us!

Do you really "welcome all, with God's Aloha?"

  •  With grace as our theological center, this congregation follows Christ's command to love your neighbor. Therefore, we practice full inclusion and welcome all people. Our leadership and congregation include people formally excluded from other Christian communities. "Jesus didn't reject anyone, neither do we!"

Do I have to believe EVERYTHING the bible says?

  • We preach and teach from the Bible; however, we are not biblical literalists. Our study engages scripture in its historical context, how the story was heard by its original faith community to whom it was written, and how it relates to us today. We believe "God is still speaking."

There’s so much good in the world to be done when those of common cause come together. You do not have to do it alone; there’s a place for you here…

and we are better, together, with you here.
