All are welcome to worship with us, however, if you decide to become part of our faith family, we welcome new members in three ways:
Baptism
People who are new to the faith can be received into the Church through Baptism. Though we most often baptize infants, adult baptisms are not uncommon and are celebrated by the community.
Transfer
People who have been members of other churches can ask their congregations for a letter of transfer. It’s not a requirement, but it is a courtesy to both churches.
Affirmation of faith
People who have been members of a church of another denomination or tradition are welcome here at Kapa’a UCC. To join by affirmation of faith, the pastor will meet with you briefly to talk with you about The United Church of Christ and how it compares with your current denomination, and to see if you have any questions about Kapa’a UCC.
If you would like to know more about becoming a member or want to talk with our pastor, please connect with us on the contact page.
No one is too old, or too young, for baptism. Kapa’a United Church of Christ welcomes people of all ages into the body of Christ through baptism. Instituted by Jesus himself, baptism marks the entry into Christian faith and community. Baptisms take place at the church and sometimes in the ocean when the family of faith gathers.
The Meaning of Baptism
Baptism celebrates new life! Baptism begins a new, living relationship with God.
Baptism is God’s unshakeable commitment to be in relationship with us, always, no matter what. That’s grace!
What about baptisms in other churches?
Kapa’a UCC recognizes the baptism of any Christian church. God’s promises in
baptism are trustworthy, no matter what denomination.
For more information about your child’s or your own baptism, please connect with us on the contact page.
Marriage takes place when you and your partner pledge yourselves to each other for a lifetime of faithfulness, love, and companionship. Couples choosing to join in marriage at Kapa’a UCC will be supported throughout the planning process. Our Pastor is available for premarital counseling and ceremony planning.
The Ceremony
A Christian wedding is a service of worship. The church takes seriously the couple’s wishes for their day, but also the meaning of Christian marriage. This means Bible readings and prayer, will be part of every wedding service.
